Hello! I just wanted to share my good news: I passed my 1st semester class piano final! I got an A!
I got a 100% on the written exam and a 95% on the playing pieces.
The playing pieces were Happy Birthday (which I played by ear), and this 20 bar piece that involved a repetitive melody and lots of pedal. I played both pieces on the Yamaha grand piano (those babies that cost over 25,000 dollars!) and the one thing I noticed when I played the second piece is the pedal is really stiff!
My teacher recommeded that I experiment with pedal on Happy Birthday to make it sound fuller, so I am going to play around with that.
So, what's next: well, 2nd semester class piano doesn't start until nearly the end of January. So I'll be reviewing the materials, doing piano exercises, keeping my mind fresh on my chords (major, minor, tonic, dominant, subdominant) and scales, and playing around with various pieces (between now and Christmas it will be Christmas songs).
