Twinkie Clark-Terrell

Hey all, I have been enjoying classic Clark sisters songs from the past this week. I love their signature sound, but I just can't imagine Twinkie playing all those early  years. Its not a slight to her, but i asked somebody and they said that it was her on ALL the recordings.

Was that really her playing Whoever it was, they were straight crazy! I know they all started out young, and if that was her playing at like 15or 16 that's awesome!!! If you know if it was Twinkie playing all those years then please let me know!!

I love her sound altogether and listening to the early/first recordings will blow your mind when you think of how young they all were(Twinkie, Dorinda, Karen, Jackie) Holla back if you know!! 'Fred

Twinkie wrote most of the songs that the clark sister sang.  I dont know if she sang and played on all the albums.

Yes, that was Twinkie on all those early recordings.  She started out playin when she was like 3 or 4 years old.  I have a lot of their albums and she sung and played on all the songs and she lead a lot too....and if u didnt know karen and Dorinda play the organ also, not on Twinkie's level but they are pretty tight too.

Yeah I was talking to my fiance and she was telling me that it WAS her on all the recordings!! That is such a blessing!! I was listening to "No Other Name'(bless that wonderful name of Jesus) and that organ during the intro is crazy!! She told me that Twinkie actually lead most of the songs(her voice was more developed) too! I heard that their mother taught them all voice and keyboards!!

To me, she will always be my favorite all-time favorite on the organ and i love to hear Joey D and the late Jimmy Smith!!

I think she is very good, but not the best.  I played with her, well let me put it the right way. I attempt to play with her, on one of her songs I go to the rock.  Well at that time I was new to playing gospel, and I couldn't feel it, and she let me know that I was out of sink. But she is a very nice lady but very serious about her craft.  On the other hand I have heard people like Billy Preston, who is number 1 of all times, then Mrs. Clark

I must say that Billy Preston is one of the most influential of all time, but they are somewhat on a different spectrum to 'compare' to each other. Now as far as instrumentalists more than singers, I have to list the top 2 As: Billy Preston and Moses Tyson Jr.

Holla back, 'Fred

Hey I must say that twinkie is the best organist that I know, not saying because my mother and her mother was best friends but because she has skills, and she has placement, she learned how to play from a guy named Ronald kersey who is orginally from canada, who played with mattie moss clark during her early years with southwest michigan state mass choir, and also Dr. Clark Played as well, so she is by far one of the best, also Billy Preston, is known for his work and early years with James Cleveland, I was digging in my old albums(LPs) and found a album from the mid 60's that billy preston did on the savoy label, and that organ sounded good then and sure does sound good now

They are all good, but I must say, Billy Preston is one of those whose talents has gone unnoticed. The brother is one bad organist,

Twinkie is Great and one of my personal favorites. I think it's hard to say which one organist is the best, because once you get to a certain level it's all a matter of what you like and how you feel.

Twinkie played on the old Clark Sisters albums, and wrote most of their songs.

Twinkie is the best out of all hers sisters, then Dorinda (she plays jus like her mama), then Jackie and karen. They all are good.
