Mr. Joey, let me just say that it's an honor just to communicate with you over the internet. Dude................................... .(SPEECHLESS). That roll you did was killer(the one on soundcheck #1 after the flamtaps). I had to learn that roll. It took me 3 days to learn it but, I learned it. I know the BIBLE says " Thou shalt not steal" , but I stole that roll( and the good part about it is that no one in Memphis has no idea were I got it from. So everyone thinks it's mine!!!) HA HA HA

I am from Memphis (though now residing in Flo-Rida. This the internet secrets don't stay secrets long. Jahlil Eli (Bro. Eli) is my private instructor whenever I am in the great state of M-E-M-P-H-I-S, 1-Town.

Is Clifford Jackson still wrecking shop there? I was at the Steve Gadd clinic.. were you? Good to see Memphis representing.

OOOOOHHHHHHHH SSSSSSSSNNNNNNNNNNAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPP Bro. Eli is like my family! That man is so hot on the set. He's hot on everything( marching percussion, hand percussion and melodic percussion). He played with Public Enemy and plays for Khari Whynn. He also did one of the cadences for Morris Brown on Drumline. Did you go to Stax, and what is your name because we might know each other. Oh yeah, it's Jaheel Eli!

I am a 30 sumthin' now. I did drop by once while Eli taught at Stax. David  Holland. I didn't play out when I was in Memphis just at my church. I had to get my chops back up to par.... had stopped playing for about 10 yrs.

I have jammed with Khari Wynn and his Gebre Waddell (fusion bass) in their studio at Gebre's house (been about 3 yrs ago since I moved to Flo-rida).

Big Myron  let me sit in for a couple songs at Isaac Hayes one night about 3 years ago while he played bass. "H-Bomb" let me sit in with A440 for a song once at Isaac Hayes.

I went to junior high & high school with Eric Gales (blues guitarist) and Renardo Ward and his sister Roniece. OHS-'91!

Lisa Gray of Billy Rivers Angelic Voices of Faith was the First Lady and choir director at the church I wa a member of there on Ball Rd.

Do you know Frank Fluker, Jr. (He studies with Cedric Keel... another Memphis Monstah)? Frank  Jr is an up and comer. I haven't seen him play since he was a shorty though.

Send me a PM so we can stop boring folks.

Wow, it's a very small world - I met Bro. Eli in 1999 when Morris Brown visited (well they had a game) against Bethune-Cookman in Ft. Lauderdale.  I knew that everyone didn't have the name of "Bro. Eli", and after your replies, it was confirmed that he was the same person that I was thinking all along.  Wow...

More incentive to hook up bro.

I have a drumline rendition of SHAFT that Eli composed on CD that is off the chain.
