I know I am not spaky but I can assist you with this. However this may actually be a blessing to someone else.
1st. sit down and record yourself playing. (like your next gig) then do a small sample of yourself. Trust me... they are gonna want to see how well you perform with a band. ( pocket is very important, how well you can remeber the songs, etc. and really can you hold it down)
2. Decide who it is that you want to get on with. Majority of the time there manager handles all of this type of stuff. So put you a small professional profile together of you and send it attn to manager.
What they will do is review your stuff. Some of them are nice enough to hit you back, and say right now were not looking for a drummer, or to make changes to the band or whatever. Then some don't hit you back. ( but don't be discouraged)
3. Experience x 5 and then people that are out there already, that can help you get in, is always a super duper plus.
And as I always say untill you do get picked up stay on your chops, keep em' fresh and ever increasing. Gods want us to be prosperous and thats not just with money. Everything we do we are to be prosperous, esp. if we have him on our side. If God be before us then whom can be against us. The answer is  Nobody..... Be blessed.

Create a sort of press pack:

Professional head shot photo of your self.

Brief on playing education, performance resume, various styles you ca play (DO NOT LIE)

CD of you performing is good.

Video of you playing solo or with a band and put it on a DVD or VCD. because people will use people will fix their performances with Pro Tools on CD but it is harder to fake the funk on camera.
Try not to become a person of success but rather a person of VALUE. - T. Harv Eker
