I know this thread is OLD, but it is hilarious !!! I had to put my top 5 in here too!

#5. Playing with a good guitar player that decides to grab the bass during service, but can't play the bass AT ALL and does solos on the bass like it's a guitar!! lol.... I didn't know that was possible.
#4. A guest singer that comes in and didn't bring a musician, but doesn't speak to you about playing anything for them, and expects you to follow them, by yelling in the mic" come on and play...fellow me"...like we already had something worked out.
#3. A guest organist that is just terrible and blames the lack of playing ability on the actual organ because it's not like the one at their church.....when the organ really works fine and is in perfect condition. When they really dont know how to operate an organ and play EVERY single song with the same drawbar setting.
#2. Preachers that actually call you (days ahead of time) when they know they are coming to preach at your church and dogg their own musician and tell you to make sure you play the organ for them when they preach....That's just not right! lol
#1. Older people that don't keep up with Current Gospel Music and they come up to you and tell you that the R&B & Jazz music that you are playing is not for church and is of the devil, but you are actually playin' some Fred Hammond, Isreal, or Kirk Franklin......lol.. JUST GO SIT DOWN!!! lol

Just my 2 cents
God Bless

Er...

The only thing I really HATE................

The new LEGION of "Burrell-esque" singers! Why everybody gotta try to sing like that?? The first verse of the song has like 14, 000 changes in it....

........ugh.

But, worse than that ..... are the ones who try to sing in that style, and they really can't sing.....

What you said about the bass player is hilarious, that happens to me at one of my churches, he'll start playing the melody line lol, but it just won't fit right

OK I got a few.

Guest organist comes to my church.  After he is done playing he STANDS UP ON MY PEDALBOARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!eleven

Man I am about to knock your guest a$$ OUT.

My deacons are bad about this:  Especially on "Take Me To The River" -- the baptismal hymn.  There are 2 bars of rests for the singers at the end of this song--the deacons just fire up the next verse after 5-6 beats.  Umm?? I guess there's a bar of 5/4 at the end of this song.  One time one of our drummers (a 74 yr old dude) yelled across the church:  "Y'all brothas got NO rhythm!!"

The thing about people abusing your instrument.  Do not play it like it's an old out of tune piano and you're trying to be heard in Texas Stadium.  Hitting the keys harder does not make it louder.  Do not use your elbows for glisses.

Do not mess with the volume control on my Leslie.  I have it set like that so it doesn't clip or damage the amps or speakers.  If you turn it up I will come up and turn it back down.  Fry your own Leslie.  There's a reason we have the best Hammond in town -- we take care of it.

I could go on and on.

1.  someone singing in z flat
2.  my sister telling me to quiet down to hear the choir and then when I quiet down we still can't hear the choir because they are not singing loud at all.
3.  people wanting to hold a full conversation in your ear while you're trying to play worship service and then the praise team goes way off to left field and now you gotta catch up.
4.  your brother blows into town and decides to jump on the keyboard and during the song shows all the runs he's learned but he's only learned them in one key.
5.  ok.  no 5

We had a guest church recently come through and they didn't bring their musician....I don't play songs I don't know and their choir sang one I didn't know....The choir director comes over to me in the middle of the song while they are singing and decides to teach the song to me....The bruh was in a different key then what the choir was singing in and to make things worse..The man's BREATH!! just about knocked me off the organ bench...They gotta remember to take the condiments at the exit door from the restaurant before they come to evening service....lol  :-\

One more thing is my uncle decided to play the drums that night because my drummer wasn't there. My uncle play CYMBALS & BASS DRUM ONLY!!! It got so loud that he couldn't hear the songs when they were over and would always end up playing by himself at the end of end song while everybody would be on the floor laughing....I was about to take the lords supper table and break it over his head!!! lol  :D

God Bless

1. when the other organ player half learns the song but wants to play the song for premessage.
2. when the person taking the offering starts singing a song when the musicians were already playing something. and on top of that they can't sing.
3. when a musician from another church comes and feels like he has to out play me. ( come on man we're all brothers and sisters)
4. when the director blames the choir sounding bad on the organist. they say " thats not the key we learned the song in"
5. when the person in charge of service tries to sing a song as fast as we are playing the shout'n music and it doesn't sound right so we have to slow all the way down to make them sound good.

LOL, these are hilarious.

1. I don't like when someone tells me, "You play really good."  When not only do I suck but I didn't play about three of the songs during praise and testimony service.

2.  When you're playing a song for the praise team to sing and they sing something different.

3.  When you play the note of a key that a song is in for the person who asked you to play a song for them and they still sing in a different key.

4. When I go to district meetings and there is no organist there, then everybody looks at me like why are you not going up there.  I'm thinking because I know I'm going to embarass myself when I get up there.

5. When another organist comes and plays but won't show me anything after church.

6. When my mom sings a song for testimony service that she pulled from the late 70's.  I love them but I sure can't play them.

7. When the drummer is constantly changing the beat because they ain't paying attention.

8. When the drummer starts off and is off beat.

9. When the drummer is on the drums playing around.  Do they not understand that they are in ministry?

10. I'm a drummer first then a choir director, and then an organist and I hate when we go somewhere and have to sing and the organist asks me you gon' play for your choir.  I'm thinking... do I ever play for the choir???  LOL

1 - Stuck Pedals
2 - Leslie won't change gears
3 - People that want center stage during shouts (they wait until everyone else finishes and then shouts with their eyes open)
4 - Directors who forget that they have musicians and start mouthing directions to the choir and wonder why we don't make transitions with them.
5 - Drummers with bad timing (sorry guys, but it's a pet peeve).

every thing i agreeeeeeeeeeeee expeclly #4(robert)

1.  I was playing "Thank you lord" (the traditional response) with a 12/8 feel...and the drummer forced me into playing it with a straight 4/4 feel...*argh*

1) When someone starts singing in a key that is off pitch (not in any key) and when you join in on organ in nearest key, they stick on that pitch. (how is this possible?)

2) when someone that can't sing gets the microphone or when someone misses the groove of a tune (can't sing/play synchopated rythym)

3) Someone tries have a band pull off complex music in public without a lead sheet.

4) Pastors that don't plan their services in advance ( I like music to match the message).( I have had many promise to deliver topics a month ahead but then don't deliver at all).

5) Musicians that play too loud and don't understand dynamics and/or tempo changes.
