Effective way of practicing. Try it!!!
« on: October 31, 2005, 08:16:40 AM »
A couple of days ago, I tried to figure out some new thimgs to practice. When practing your major and minor scales, play the major scale and the relative minor right after it. Example, CMaj scale first and then Amin scale.
Remeber, to find the relative minor key of a major key, you must count up to the sixth tone of the major scale. Lets say youre playing Cmaj scale
C would be the first tone A would be the sixth tone, that means A is the relative minor of Cmajor. So you play a major scale and then it's relative minor. This applies for all keys. So practice your scales in pairs, major and minor.  And follow the scales order from C-F-Bb-Eb-Ab-Db-Gb-B-E-A-D-G. Any Questions or inputs feel free to reply.

You know what, this is an excellent idea.  This way, it will help you visualize the minor scales in relation to the majors. Thanks

Thanks a lot. I have no problem remembering the major chords, but the minors chords sometimes I tend to forget I have not played them in a while, especially with 7ths chords.
All the glory goes to God for my talent.
