Well I consider Thaddeus Tribbett underated. He is not only a very good bassist with a very unique but he is a banana as an MD.http:// ::)

Let's be honest, when you think of bass guitar in terms of the pioneers of modern bass, you think of Jaco Pastorius, Victor Wooten, and Marcus Miller. Now Dave Weckl I think is a pioneer of modern drumming but in terms of his whole band I'd never heard of Tom Kennedy until I looked him up. Underated bassists are bassically bassists who've been doing their thing well, for a long time but dont get as much recognition as the 3 that I mentioned before.

So not having a solo cd out as a bass player makes you underated?  Cause Jaco, Vic and Marcus all have solo cd's.  And just because you have never heard of a certain bass player doesnt make him underated.  And who's weighing how much recognition each bass player gets?  Are you finding these statistics online?   ;D  j/k

I respect all of your definitions of "underated"  or whatever your idea of an underated bass player is.  I just disagree.   :)

i think when someone is said to be underrated it means they are not the most popular meaning and lets use gospel if you think gospel bass then usually maurice fitzgerald comes to mind or drums calvin rodgers but what about tre' gilbert or calvin napper
