Bass line or Chords
« on: January 28, 2004, 10:16:27 AM »
I chord almost 100% of the time.  Since I have my feet to run the bass, I like to chord.  Unless its a shout or something, then I would really drive the bass in my left hand.

Well I'm a pianist first so my foot isn't nearly as fast as I would like, I'm still working on that.  If its a slow to moderate song ("More Than Anything" to "Speak to My Heart"), then I do two hand chords and pedals.  But when its faster then that, oh boy I pull out those last three bars and start playing left hand bass with a quickness or its gonna be a mess    I give all the glory to God for even having me be able to progress on the organ at the pace that I am.

Try using ankleweights when practicing the organ, your pedaling speed will dramatically improve.

OK, I'm praying for God to bring an organ to my church.  I've discovered I love playing the organ, and one day I'm not going to play it like I play the piano.   :D

Myron, what do the ankle weights do?  Is it to add resistance, and then when you take them off--it's like WOW!???

Mmmmmm....I think I'll try that, as soon as I get an organ and/or my church gets one.  Plus, I do have major medical insurance incase I pull something with those weights on

Please start off light and if you feel you are capable, increase the weight.
