How do you tell the Organ Player to let you play the Bass Li

I am having a problem with the organ player at the church trying to play the bass lines that I am supposed to be playing. How do I tell him to let me play them the correct way without sounding like I am coming off in a bad way?

Walk over and ask him does he like playing bass. LOL or just turn of his foot pedals. LOL  Ok sorry about those just ask him to lay of the bass lines and stick to padding and tell him to move his playing up to the other side of the Organ. Or you could not play until he gets the picture.

Hey if he wants to play bass then you can solo over his basslines.

Tell him that a true musician has the ability hear everyone and can creatively communicate with all the members of the band.

Well you can just say "I got the bass if you want"  alotta organists that dont play with a bass player dont know to turn off the foot-pedals when you got a bass player

Send him to my church so I can go bananas while he plays the bassline!!!

Naw on a serious note go to him privately in a "christian-like" manner. If no change go to your minister of music. If still no change go to the pastor. If no change pack your bags!

I guess you didn't really appreciate my previous comment.  Maybe I should had been more direct.  I personally believe that most (not all) of those guys who's doing this aren't totally ignorant.  They know exactly what kind of an environment they're creating for you.  They don't like change.  They don't want to adjust.  When you request for space they'll give you all the space you want on a song you don't know, making you sound incompetent.  In their eyes, it's not their problem, it's yours.

I feel that you have to play around them or thru them.  You figure out a plan.  You figure out when to do it.  Then you do it.  Stay on sit with persistance until there's a resolution.  It will get worst before it get better.  If this wasn't the case, you would had went to him directly and he would had helped you out and you wouldn't be asking this site for advice.  I don't think I'm THAT far off in left field.

i would tell them "I GOT THE BOTTOM!" and if they keep playing i will take my bass off and i will have a something's wrong look on my face, hoping they will ask me "why aren't you playing?" but if they don't ask...break his/her left hand or foot.  Strap up and play as loud as you can a 1/2 step lower.

I sometimes deal with this by chopping of their foot. Or I'll start playing chords and play in there space, this gives you an opportunity to break out your wah pedal. Or i'll let my hair down and start shredding like a guitar player. Best thing to do is tell him to stop stepping on your toes, you have a job to do and he has his. If he's to hard headed then step on his pedals while he's playing or play the keys to let him know what its like.

I run into often and it's not that they won't to get in your way. Alot of organ players don't know chords, so they use the bass notes alot.  I played with one who each time we played together the music sounded off. When I look at his hands he only played major chords and ran bass fills when he needed to.

Look at his hands and see
