need help for my triton
« on: March 22, 2006, 09:21:18 AM »
i have decided that although i dont like my pianos on my extreme 88 I will keep it

for a while but while i have it I want better pianos

has anyone heard the expanison pianos they have out for the triton

has anyone checked ot the Moss exb

is it worth getting?

I am going to do some song writing so I feel keeping the triton will be wise I have a roland with the concert piano srx board and played it side by side with a motif and they were prety equal

but I still want my korg to sound a little better in the piano area

any programmers out there?

D,
As I said elsewhere I have bought the EXB-PCM01 board. It's quite unsatisfactory, in that it does not solve the main problem with pianos on the Triton: lack of samples. To create a good, rich piano/EP sound you have to layer multiple samples, and use them appropriately. For instance, my Yamaha S90 uses three (IIRC) piano samples to create a piano. Only one of them is triggered, depending on the velocity with which you strike the key. The Triton has one sample, so you'll always get the same sound out, only with different volumes.
The EXB-PCM01 gives you a few more samples to play with, but (1.) they are not of great quality and (2.) they are not combined very well.

The other problem that I have with all the Triton piano/EP sound is that they sound muddy. The bass has no definition, all I hear is a lot of muddy midrange. To improve that I am currently playing with the filters and the envelope generators, but that takes time.
Has anyone played with this?

I have become quite good at playing with the sound synthesis parameters on the Triton ( even though I'd rather be playing it ::)), so if you have a specific question I might be able to help.

Out.

thats funny i would like to get into the programming on this board

I was talking to a friend of mine and like we explored on this topic before

korgs are known for those synthy sounds  and strings and horns

yamahas are known for realism of instruments

roland for cutting through the mix in live settings

Now the board you are talking about

that is the same as the ExB moss corrrect??

Well there is one more option something called the complete piano
put out by cokely or conkliey

i heard this expansion is really authentic

The triple strike piano you mentioned is excellent I played it on the s90 and loved it

I will definitely take you up on your offer about the  programming

thanks

Dude,
On my Triton Rack I can put a floppy disk in and use 'Disk Mode' to load presets (.pcg) files into the synth. It's as if I'd tweaked the settings myself. I suggest you look at your manual or go to the korg.com website if you don't have one...

do the 88 keys have the smart card? If so you download files from either one of the websites .Youwill also need a smartreader/writer to put the pcg files on the smart media card and load sounds to your board
