Virgil is one of my favorites. I saw/met him at a clinic at Memphis Drum Shop about 4 years ago when he started his Pearl Clinic tour. I got the first pair of sticks he gave away after the first performance set. I took like 3 rolls of film (but only one came out... the pix of me with him or my niece with him didn't come out though

)

mad chops just learn to apply to music that calls for that type of drumming i would love to see a black approach to the weckl minus drum tracks thats shedding in a musical context great ability balance all that time you spend on combos with learning hard tunes thats what sets ronald brunner and thomas apart not chops

That song is called "I'm Free." It's from Ted & Sheri's latest album Celebrate. Sput plays most of the drums on that album. It's nice!!

Too bad on the ride thing...
Word to the wise always keep a crashh with a good bell and ride definition around such as the 20" Vault crash, 18" El Sabor crash, 18" AAX El Sabor Picante....

Timing was a bit of at varioius points... You don't have to put the kichen sink in on fills. Rember they are just to set up transitions in the song(s) ortherwise work in rhythmic phrasing around the various voices in support of the melody. Think composition instead of beat and fill. You got mad skills but you got to "use your powers for good". All you sudivisions have to fit, even when they are over the bar. Metric Modulations will help rein those in while keep the excitment. Remember to pay the bills before you buy the car,

When I asked that I was told to work on rudiments & apply rudiments to the whole kit. Particularly the 5, 6 & 7 stroke single rolls, paradiddles (& its variations) and double stroke rolls.

First of All to freddy F you are speaking as if you can not play the pocket why you are shedding when we all know sheddin is suppose to be about you working on your weakness and it is obvious in that clip what he is doing is his strength,and to Fretaio i was not trying to convince any one of that theory because if you go back and read my comments i said that was my opinion and not yours and the last time i check this was a web site for musician to share their knowledge and (OPINIONS) not try to convince any one, Because if thats the case then who's to say that what any person has said on this entire web site is a fact/truth,Just because everyone else like the cilp does not mean i had to.(TRY TO BE A LEADER NOT A FOLLOWER IF YOU CAN ??) Although you said this is your "opinion", as underlined, you stated that there is a "true meaning" for pocket. This implies that your opinion is no longer an opinion but fact. But it returned to being an opinion because you couldn't support it with facts. Especially in relation to drumming as a whole & across all genres.

What Sabe & everyone else has been saying is that pocket is interpreted differently & there are guidelines to what pocket is but there can't be a "true meaning" or definition. E.g. Jazz pocket is different to latin pocket which is different to Rock... From your previous posts it looks like your starting to understand this... thats good.
