The Secret to Perfect Pitch: You can have it in 1 hour!
« on: April 26, 2006, 06:40:50 AM »
Ok....

I know I really have your attention! I promise you, however, that this is one of the most important and easiest things that you'll learn, and you will not forget it!

The critical piece of information that I have for you, is what I have learned that will enable you to recognize AT LEAST 7 keys--that's over half the musical notes--strictly by ear! Many musicians say that they wish they had perfect pitch, but you, with these simple steps that I'm about to show you can have it right now! Within the next hour, you can proudly say to people, I have perfect pitch! It's really that easy! With the information that I'm about to give you, you can confidently back any vocalist and not worry about fumbling over keys to find the pitch that the person is singing in! You can listen any group of musicians and instantly know what key they're in!

I'm telling you, you will be happy that have this ability! Musicians sometimes go their whole career, without obtaining perfect pitch! Students throughout the country spend millions each year to learn it, but rest assured, my method for obtaining perfect pitch will be the cheapest thing you've ever bought! Do you really want it?

My method for obtaining perfect pitch will give you the credibility and gigs that you deserve! Let's face it, word of mouth is the most powerful advertisement method there is, and with my 2 step method, perfect pitch will be yours! I could have easily just told you what this exciting information is, but you would not have believed me! Why? People feel that it should be hard. It's not.

Here are the steps that will give you this ability that you've been waiting on!...  ;) ;) ;D ;D

1. Look at the keyboard.
2. Sing the letter notes, while playing them from A-G until you can hear the A automatically.

You'll find that it's easier to memorize them, this way!

 :o :o

Don't believe me?!  ::) It's that easy! Practice those 7 notes, and you will, within 1 hour, be able to hear those notes!

So, now that you have this information, how much are you willing to pay for it!  ;D ;D ...just kidding...you can paypal me! LOL

This is really has to be the easiest way to get perfect pitch.

Pretty cool, I'll try it.  What scale would that be anyway?  I guess it's C minor.  Is there anything special about that scale other than it starts with the letter A?

Nope. The thing that helps you remember it, I think, is that we automatically try to associate a pitch to our "A,B,C'S", so when you sing it like this, you remember the pitch easier.

Doc, I love this method that you have come up with and I belive that it will help alot of people. I have perfect pitch as well and I know that what you are saying WILL WORK!! The only thing that I would "TAG" on to this is for new as well as old to start at middle C cause these are what will call natural "TALK TONE" voices and this is why people can emulate or remember that tone in their head because that tone is natural to the ear. This will also work like a champ! Again, you are the BOMB!!!  God bless, Bishop Cole

You are absolultly correct my chorus teacher says the key to perfect pitch is singing.  If you remember what each note feels like internally you'll be able to sing it and then find it.

You cannot develop perfect pitch in an hour.

People who have TRUE perfect pitch can tell if an A is 440 Hz or 442 Hz.  These people are freaks of nature and having perfect or "absolute" pitch can be more of a detriment to them as a slightly out of tune note, undetectable to 99.999% of us, can drive them nuts.

You are talking about developing good relative pitch.  Some people are born with it, most must develop it by LISTENING.  For example, my pastor has very good relative pitch despite having very limited musical training.  He always starts off his songs in the right key without being queued and even if we're just hanging out and he starts singing something, it will be in the right key.  I don't think he even realizes it.  I believe it is a function of him knowing his own voice as an instrument very well.

I realized  that I was developing relative pitch at a young age.  I was the "pitch pipe" for a capella singing as far back as I can remember.  I think developing "signposts" or finding notes that you can hear in your head is the best way to approach it.  For me, it was the note Eb (2 octaves below middle C) when struck on a piano.  It just had a dark "ringing" quality to me.  One thing you have to work on is hearing your "signpost" notes when they're played on an instrument other than the one you play.  Different instruments have different overtones for the same note, which can cause the sound to have a different color.  For some reason it is more difficult for me to hear "signposts" from alto sax than other instruments because of the overtones.  I don't have any problems with any of my instruments (piano, organ and bass).

Still, ear training is something I work on daily.  Once you get your signposts established you can identify complex chords without even being near an instrument.  I use my relative pitch to identify the bass notes, and then determine the quality of the chord in relation to the bassline.  I could be listening to some crappy pop song just driving around in my car and Fm7, Bb7, etc. is going through my head without even realizing it.

I didn't mean for this post to come off as bragging.  But if you realize that you have the ability to recognize and reproduce certain notes and you consciously develop this ability, it can become second nature to you.  My choir is always blown away whenever they bring a new CD to church and I write out the changes without being at the organ the first time through -- OK sometimes I have to listen twice if the harmony moves quickly or the harmonic rhythm is not standard (like when a song is 30 bars long instead of 32).

Either way, you can't develop "perfect pitch" in an hour.  You can, however, develop good relative pitch through listening and practice over the span of your musical career.  It can be distracting sometimes.  If you've ever had a song "stuck" in your head, realize it's even worse if you have the song and the chord chart "stuck" in there.  But a musician's ears are the most valuable tools that they can develop if you ask me.
