I enjoyed the post. What I don't understand is that why when a musician does something exceptional or what people think are too many runs, then he is trying to get attention and show off. We constantly say well, it doesn't take all that or he's just laying a foundation. Well as a musician I've realized that I've got to praise Him how I want to praise Him or how He allows me to praise Him. If I want to do every run in the book and every mode of a jazz scale, then I am praising God how I want. What's the different between that and a person running around the church screaming praises to God. People may say it doesn't take all that, but you have no clue what God has brought that person through, personally I think it is applicable to instrumentation. A line should be drawn somewhere by why do people allow something extraordinary that a musician might throw in his music hinder their praise to God. It's not the musician's fault if people focus on his busy playing rather than their praise to God. That's the idea of corporate praise and worship everyone is focused on God and that only. I hope this makes sense. Be blessed!
