HELP with uploading MIDI???
« on: May 11, 2006, 10:24:17 AM »

 Hello,
Can someone explain what I need to do to upload MIDI files from my Keyboard to my Computer. I used to do it using 3.5 floppies, but my new computer only has C-D,DVD and USB.

Is there a special connection cable that's used to MIDI out of the keyboard and into the USB?

thanks
DG

It depends on what your keyboard has for a midi connection to your computer. Take a look at the back of the keyboard. You will either have the older 5 pin midi in and out connection .... or you will have the newer usb connection. The new usb connection makes life simple - just connect your keyboard to your computer and get some sequencer software on your computer to help transfer the midi data. If you have the older 5 pin connection, you need the 5 pin midi cable, and a midi to usb converter, and the sequencer software. Good luck.

Yes, you need a MIDI cable to do that.
