Hello, Brand new and want to learn to play the organ!
« on: May 17, 2004, 02:28:22 PM »
8O  Help is needed,  What are some suggested first articles I should look at to start playing the Organ.

I already know what the notes are on a piano and have mild experience, however, now I am looking to take it to the next level.  My have a awful organ at home (a few keys just don't sound right it is by swinger and old) but for practice sake I think it will work and i can use the one at my church which is a leslie.

I printed out a couple of the theory but any information will help.!!

Thanks a bunch

I recommend learning all of you keys even if its just a simple major and minor progressions. it may seem tedious at first but it will pay off in the long run especially on the organ. have fun and stay encouraged

learn your scales and that will help you on your runs in the future. remember scales are the alphabet of making music words. (chords) runs are what make the hammond sing. okay god bless

I have started practing my scales.  I think my organ at home is out of tune but I am going to start practicing on the one at my church on the weekends as well.  I have trying to practice some of the chords but they do not sound right to me as yet (might be the organ as I stated earlier).  well going to make sure I have the scales down pact first .. and the chord basics then I will be ready for the next level.

Be blessed
