Does learning how to play in each key in the order of the circle of fifths make easier than going chromatically.

Great question!  I can only give you my opinon because I am by no means an expert on the keyboard.  I believe it is not only easier, but also more beneficial in the long run.  By learning the scales in the circle of 5ths, you are also learning the relationships between the scales.  Knowing the relationships is helpful as you learn chord progressions and turnarounds.  It will also help you as you start to develop runs and fill-ins to fill out your songs.

Example, a 6-2-5-1 progression in the key of C is A-D-G-C.  A is the 5th note in the key of D, while D is the 5th note in the key of G, and G is the 5th of C.  See, the circle of 5ths!  Hope this helps.

Also, progressing chromatically doesn't always sound nice . . . at least not in my opinion. The circle of fifth's is much more pleasing on the ears. Try starting on a CM7th (CEGBC) and start taking that around the circle of fifth's. Doesn't that sound nice? FM7 (FACEF), then BbM7 (BbDFA). Kinda gives a sleepy, ballad sound. Try that with Cminor, then Fminor, then Bb minor, etc.

Be Blessed . . .
