I got cakewalk music creator 2. I have a problem though. I can't hear my recording.  I have a m-audio 49e midi board hooked up to my computer by way of the USB cord. I use the patches that came with the software. I can actually see my recording but I can't hear anything. The instructions doesn't seem to address this problem and I followed the directions to a "T" and still nothing. I also tried to use my yamaha s90es to record and still nothing.

Anyone have this problem or can anyone help me troubleshoot. thanks

I have sonar but it probably have the same way to get to the solution...If you have a options menu (at the top) and go down to audio.  Look for a advanced tab and and section called "playback and recording" If you have it on WDM/KS, change it to MME (32-bit) and vice versa, but don't use ASIO (if you using your sound card from your motherboard) and then just restart Music Creator.

thanks that was very helpful advise. Now im having trouble recording drums and saving it as midi. Also the response time is bad in relation to when I actually strike the keys. My tracks sound very off beat and all over the place.

options--->audio...there a sliding bar at the bottom...slide it down to about 20ms
As for drums on the midi track it self there a section for the channel....make sure it on channel 10 in order to play the drums then go to file and save as then select midi format 0 (or something like that) and there you go!

I use Sonar 1.0     yeah I know...
I am looking to upgrade when I get the funds.

It serves my purpose of posting midis here.

What do you guys accomplish with Sonar 5?  Do you use it in your playing at church?
Professionally?   Leisure?

Do I really need to upgrade if I only use it for leisure?  What else should I be using this for?
Praise God!

I use Sonar 5 for my Studio in the Crib athough I have used it for live recordings and it did a great job. If you want more effects and better quality so far as processing effects and other things than you should definitely upgrade. I was on Sonar 1 for a long time. then I upgraded to Sonar 5 and noticed a big difference in Speed, Processing, Audio power and effect power. Your also able to cotrol 5.1 surround sound with Sonar 5 which makes your music sound 100% better. I have yet to have errors and I'm looking to upgrade to Sonar 6 when it comes out. But if your not trying to do much with recording or midi then I wouldn't upgrade at all. Save your money and get a Keyboard. You can never stop upgrading those.

I think the upgrade for Sonar 6 is already out.  They have been sending me e-mails to get the upgrade, but I haven't had the chance to read or look at them yet.

Home Studio is a product of Cakewalk along with Sonar5, Music Creator3, Rapture.

I feel you man. It's all good. I may have a product key. Don't know if it will work with yours but I'll see if I can find it. You may have to call in to get the product key. Hope you got the serial number.  ;)

Cakewalk? Great stuff
« Reply #19 on: December 20, 2006, 04:42:16 PM »
Great stuff, man.  I use Home Studio 2.  Also own Cubase XL and Fl Studio.  Sonar is not as intuitive as Home Studio and it takes a LOT of getting used to.  So when I upgraded my Cakewalk, naturally I went to Home Studio 2.
