LEARNING SCALES
« on: July 22, 2003, 04:26:05 PM »
I have a question for the advanced on behalf of beginners...

After learning the Major and Minor Scales, in gospel music, which scale would be good to learn next in line and so forth in a prioritized way?????

Thanks in advance,

John C

I would think the Blues scale would be nice to know as well

1, 3b, 4, 5b, 5, 7b, 1

Of course in all KEYS. Be Blessed.

I agree with C Will. The blues scale would be the next scale to learn. This is the scale where many of the runs that you hear come from.

The pentatonic scale is also good...it's your "melody scale", 99.9 % of your melody comes from this scale, it also makes super runs:
1_2_3_5_6_8 = major pentonic
1_b3_4_5_dom7_8 = minor pentonic
