The best keyboard to buy
« on: September 15, 2006, 10:21:00 AM »
Help me out, while I'm learning to play the keyboard my church needs to get another one because the guy that used to play had his own and took it.  Whats would be the better keyboard for church services?  I was told that any of the Motifs were good because they have some of the best sounds in the business, but I know the tritons are good too, so can someone help me on this as well?

Congratulations on your entry into the minister of music position.  I would say that the best keyboard to get would...yea...be any of the Motifs.  But another to look at would be the Roland VR 760.  Its a combination of the VK 7 and VK 8.  It's a hott! board doc.  You'll be very pleased with it.  I got it and I won't trade it for nothing!!  Check it out! 8)

Try the Roland Fantom-X, good pianos and rhodes on that one.
The motif-es is good also.

Yeah I wanted one of those. I was thinking that if someone did that they would make alot of money.

I agree with you "2tight". Always have a list of things that you require and find the keyboard that best suits that specification and in my opinion the Motifs, Fantoms and Tritons tend to best suit most specifications musicians have.

The triton is good coz it is fairly easy to operate and the sounds are kinda cool.

i say a Fantom, best all around board. motif is great for goespel, urban music, not as much for anything electronic or edgy. korg has the weakest piano sounds of the big three, but there layered sounds are probably the best.

You should first set a "budget".  The Fantom, Triton and Motif are all nice, but if you don't havr $2,000+ to spend on a board, then you shouldn't ge these.

I would go with the Motif or Fantom...I think Korg is wack for the most part, I dont like the piano sounds.

Some people know this, others don't but the true secret to a good sounding board is the "AMP".  I don't care if you have a Motif, Trton or Fantom, pipe it through a sorry amp and see how it sounds. :)

But on the flip side, if you take a Casio and pipe it through a good amp, it can do wonders.
