Rocktron Blue Thunder Preamp
« on: November 14, 2006, 03:29:35 PM »
I am building a new rig and just wanted some feed back on the preamp I am considering.
It is the Rocktron BlueThunder preamp. I play mostly gospel, R&B, Funk and some Jazz.
Will the blue thunder be able to stand up to the challenge? :)
Or will I be questing for a new preamp soon after I begin? :(

Any input, negative or positive would be helpful.

They get a thumbs up from me!  I don't think you will be disapointed if you bought one.  You can get some pretty convincing warm tones from that unit and is very quiet in operation.  I actually prefer it to the Line6 POD XT which is it's main rival.   It is very easy to use and takes no time at all to get a great sounding tone from it.  I haven't used one direct into a desk yet, so I can't really comment on the cab and amp modellers, but the basic dry settings are really nice.  The first time I used one was with a Squier P-bass (they don't sell any impressive basses at this store!) and I was really impressed by the instant hi-fi quality.  The effects on it are not too great (a bit synthetic sounding)...for that I would get the Line6 XT.
