Well since folks are offering up some grooves to practice to I thought I'd contribute as well. I have a huge library and picked a variety handful to post here. These are in .wav format for easy importing into whatever programs you guys tool around with! All are aprox. a minute in length and have a short fade.

gruv 1
gruv 2
gruv 3
reggae gruv
slo gruv
5/4 gruv
6/4 gruv

Have fun practicing!

Hey .. I messed around with gruv 2 ... check it out ... http://www.learngospelmusic.com/media/displayimage.php?album=20&pos=5

Wow! You're good! You have an excellent sense of timing! You are locked in with the drummer! Something a lot of bassists need to work on! That clip can actually be used as a lesson!!

Nice work! I dig!

Thanks guys!!    Locking in with the drummer was my focus.  I remember so much talk about that on LGM and how important it is.

Absolutely! A lot of these young folks get into the pyrotechics of bass playing but never learn how to 'PLAY'! I can honestly tell you that after playing over 30 years, there are a ton of things that I just cannot do as it pertains more to solo or soloing bass playing! I learned how to play for a 'BAND' and that's how I teach beginners. Just the basic fundamentals, ear training, styles and groove! The double thumping and triplet playing is nice to listen to every now and then but not ALL THE TIME! Keep doing what you're doing! It's a pleasure to hear solid bass playing!

Ok .. so I was messing around with another one of these drum loops.  I can't remember which one it is.  I believe DW provided it.  Nevertheless, here's a lil something with harmonics that I title Amazing.  I'm playing the first part that Victor Wooten uses when he does Amazing Grace.  These notes are from his sheet music version.  So there's the drum loop, a bass line & the harmonic line.

Yeah, I have the sheet music.  When I play what is written and listen to him play it, it's different.  On the youtube video he has to be tuned differently from me.
