This interview teaches what being a drumset musician is all about. He talks about hearing/listening, learning to read, playing a melodic instrument and it causing him to hear differently.

I think that was where it was from...the lighting and everything looked like the same event aaron and gerald was on....

I miss Marvin playing with Fred, it just seemed like they just go together.  Marvin just always put just the right flavor on Fred's songs.

Marvin's drumming is always tasteful within the context of the songs he plays. It seemed that he fit with Fred because of the groove that the MD Noel Hall put down. The biggest help is that Fred is a musician as well so the musicality really flowed on all of their projects. Thats even for the songs that weren't "hits". They were always enjoyable. Marvin is a great drummer. Detroit is really responsible for the sound that we here in Gospel now.. Some would argue but detroit has been putting it down for 30 years in gospel. Of course a lot of them originally hail from down south but....

Marvin is one of my favorite gospel drummers....along with Jeff Davis, Ladelle, Jeremy, Joel smith, keven Brunson and so many others...but yes Marvin was all  Fred...IMO
