I'm really feeling the Sabian Signature Series Universal Ride. I think it's Ed Shaugnessy's ride. It sounds really good.
My goal as a musician is to be better than myself.

...try to fine 'em at your local Music Shop.  That's the only real way of telling although Sabian.com does a pretty good job of keeping the sound true.

...I also like the Rod Morgenstein Sign. Ride and the Signature series 21" Salsero Ride.

21" K Constantinople Big Band Ride.  If you can find one, get it.  I use it for everything.  Absolutely everything.  My gigs range from low volume jazz gigs, to high volume funk.  Its very versatile and has the characteristics you mentioned.

But in the end it could all boil down to the player and how you use the cymbal too :P

There you go - read the bolded part.  THe HHX line does not have the Raw Bell Dry Ride in the lineup (yet).  Sabian dot com has their ride cymbal designations within the HH and HHX series.

Oh i didnt even see that bolded part. I that Evolution ride to  I think spanky played  a few cymbals from that line on the victory DVD. It really doesnt matter if the cymbal is in a brilliant finish or traditional i just want something with a nice stick definition and a clean bell. Either the HHX or the Evolution is what i may narrow it down to because i havent found anything from Zildjian that i liked yet. I aint no gear head but i have been dealing with the paiste color sound ride and i HATE it but i have to live with it until i can get some money to get me one.

...seriously, get the Ride Cymbal that "YOU" like and that "serves the music" that you play.  Don't go by what other cats are playing.  I've seen and heard many drummers play X cymbal because X artist is using it.  What they forget is that X artist is playing at a big venue and he needs X cymbal to cut through all of the speakers or guitar amps. or whatnot.  So they end up using the wrong gear at a church that has the maximum capacity of 100 - 150 people. :-\  Then they wonder why all of the sudden they're playing behind a glass wall or why all of the sudden they have an electronic kit. :-\  Anyway, think of "where" you'll be using this ride and really watch your "dynamics".

Noooooo I aint liking that Evo just suz someone else is playing it I just like the sound that i produces. I know better than to go by gear just because someone else has it. Our church just stated around a year ago And we have around 200 people right now so your right about picking the right cymbal for what i play !!.

...let me ask you something....have you heard the 20" HHX Evo. Ride in person or only on a CD?  The reason I ask is because most drummers that gave it a test run do not like it or have returned it because of it sounding like a big 20" Crash instead of a Ride.  If you haven't played it in person, I'd suggest you do.  Seriously.  Again, I'm not trying to force you to buy what we are telling you to buy but I am stating the fact that the 20" HHX Evo. Ride is not a favorite among many drummers across genres. ;)

...I just read that you wanted something with not too much wash, right?  The 20" Evo. Ride has crash like characteristics.  It's like a Crash/Ride.

Whatever you get if you want a lot of ping without a long sustain, you want to get a "heavy", or "extra-heavy" ride in reference to thickness.  I play a Sabian AA Medium Heavy ride.  It has a decent ping, but it rings quite a bit too.  I plan to move up to an HH Leopard Ride.  It's unlathed and pretty heavy.  I played one when I rented a kit once, and I wanted to take that ride home.  I was gonna get a leopard ride when I bought my kit, but I didn't need a ride with that much power at the time, so I went with an AA.  Take a little time and do some research bruh.  I know you need it pretty quick, but don't be too hasty with it.
When you've done your very best, do even better.

...alright, I thought about it.  Start with this ride....20" AAX Stage Ride in Brilliant Finish.  Then, decide if you want a pingier, darker or dryer sound.  I'm not telling you to buy it but to rather listen to it and play it at your local music store.  The 20" AAX Stage Ride is a versatile ride that'll point you in the right direction.  Happy drumming.  God Bless.

...look man seriously.....take this advice and please run with it.  Anytime you want to improve your cymbals or buy some new gear, do your research and look at it or play it in person.  For cymbals, listen to the music that you are playing and go to the cymbal makers websites and read the info. about 'em and read what genre of music the cymbal that you're lookin' at is mostly used in.  Don't just buy something because you heard it on a CD or someone's Ipod.  All that stuff is compressed and eq'd so the end result to something might not even be the real thing.

...now, go out and get started and listen to music so that your ears can mature to develop your own sound.

Sidenote:  Do not bash the cymbal companies just because you didn't like 1 of their cymbals.  Paiste, Sabian, Meinl and Zildjian know what they're doing when they make cymbals.  It's up to us to choose the "right" cymbal for the musical setting. ;)

....nah man, I was making a general statement.  There are a bunch of young drummers around me that bash cymbal companies because they don't like their b8 Pro or Alpha Series crash or ride or something.  My bad.  I didn't mean it towards you. 8)
