Track for Reviewal (Contemporary Gospel)
« on: March 26, 2007, 11:39:04 PM »
This is a little song I worked on last week. It's a nice little contemporary song (you can tell the heavy R&B influence in me). I just finished writing the lyrics and the name of the song is Can't Take. Myself and my cousin, Zacardi Cortez (one of the coldest singers out of Houston) are in the process of working the vocal arrangements out. As you listen you will hear that the instrumentation is minimal to allow us to really have fun with these vocals.

As far as what equipment was used, I used a little bit of everything. The concept was created in Reason 3.0 and extra instrumentation came from an assortment of Reason refills, Triton and Motif Keyboards. It was mixed and engineered by myself and my homie Karim in Pro Tools TDM.

Check it out and once we have a full song done, would love to see what some of you may think of it. But right now, check the instrumental and let me know if you feeling it.

Yooo I likes that. The crazy thing is I dont really listen to comtemporary gospel....I'm more of a "foot stompin" quartet man lol. But on the real.....I like how it got that R&B feel to it. Had me knoddin my head for a MINUTE! Nice work!
Keys, bass, drums, trombone, I sing a lil bit too lol

Appreciate the luv fam. Trying to do some things in this music game but still waiting for my season. Until then, just preparing and grooming myself for what God has for me.

It really didnt take that long. I did the track in one night and me and my boy hooked up at the studio and mixed everything trying to get a decent sound and "voila!" You have what you hear. It was pretty easy cause I kept singing the melody in my head at work all that day and when I came home everything just flowed together.

Keep the critiques coming, really want to see if I have soemthing or continue my day job.  ;D

Nice man! Sounds really good. A nice professional mix and arrangement. Are you from Houston also?

Das a nice one right there Dee, though the you'll get a better feel and balance if the drop snares are turned down just a tad bit for those other stuff around it to come through, all in all its TIGHT!!

...NICE PIECE...I WOULD DO A COUPLE OF THINGS..

WORK WITH YOUR QUANTIZING...NOT SURE IF YOU DID IT A STRAIGHT 16THS OR AT SOME OTHER RATE BUT IT NEEDS TO BE LESS RIGID.....

ALSO THE DRUM TRACK NEEDS SOME VARIATION....IF I HEAR THAT FINGER SNAP ONE MO GIN...I'LL BARF!

TRY ALTERNATING WITH SOMETHING ELSE AND VARYING THE VELOCITIES OF THE VARIOUS PERCUSSION INSTRUMENTS SO THEY DONT GET MONOTONUS

Barf huh? That's funny...

Appreciate the feedback fam. I actually kept the track pretty much the same. The vocals on this joint made it really "pop" so alot of tweaking wasnt actually needed. I would post the actual song but right now I am not at liberty to. Hope to put up some more tracks in the near future. Hopefully they wont make anyone barf. LOL!!!
