I need advice
« on: April 17, 2007, 11:01:13 PM »
Hello saints,
        Im on the newly formed dance team at my church an things were going rocky at first then they got a little better now things are horrible. We dont have many members as is and the faithful ones are on the edge of quiting. I realize that we are not doing this for our glory but to praise the Lord. Our dance advisor doesnt want to create the dances or use our moves that we create she just wants things to go her way or no way, she also buy dvds from other dance groups and make us steal their routines. Their dance is not my testimony its theirs . Then when we get discouraged she goes to the pastor like she has done all she can an shes fed up. Im 19 and im the oldest member of the group but the older adults look at us like we dont have a voice and i believe that they should be encouraging  us if we want to work for the Lord. Im not very bold and i usually except things as is but i have to stand up for the Lord. Should i just give up and find another work in the church or would that be letting the devil defeat me? ?/?

You should talk to the pastor and relay to him just what you have posted.  Including her wanting to do "SPIRIT FINGERS" (bring it on)...

If you haven't seen it a dance choreographer taught the same dance routine to MANY cheer leading teams and 2 of which ended up in the same competition

I agree, your dance team should do a dance that is Your OWN testimony, what God gives you as a group.

You can use parts or moves... or combinations that you have seen but you put them together with your own invented steps and combinations to make the dance that God has for you.

Hope this helps... be blessed

Could you go to your pastor in confidence and discuss your feelings about this situation with him?  Or are you saying that he will brush you off as well?

Look, if God called you to be there then stand...

If this is something you "like to do" then leave. This has nothing to do with the devil. It all revolves around God and your obedience and submission to His will and hearing His voice.

It sounds like your leader has a dictator style of leading. There are a few reasons why people lead like that.

First, they think they're the only person in the world who can lead and the followers can't do anything. SOMETIMES WHEN THINGS START OUT THAT'S THE CASE BUT TRUE LEADERS DEVELOP THEIR FOLLOWERS TO LEAD.
Second, they think if they empower their followers it dimishes their leadership. FALSE.

Seek the counsel of your Pastor and show him/her how the leadership is affecting you. Depending on how your Pastor handles it, go as he/she leads.

just recently  i bought this book called "The Bait of Satan" and it is a great book

it states: (Pslam 92:13) {to go along with the text}
Many people go from church to church, ministry team or ministry team, trying to develop their ministry. if God puts them in a place where they are not recogized and encouraged, they are easily offended. If they don't agree with the way something is done, they are offended and go. They then leave, blaming the leadership. They are blind to any of their own character flaws and do not realize God want to refine and mature them throguh the pressure they were under.

** I thought this piece of the text out of the book will help you out.****
