"Rock of Ages" - TM Mass Youth Choir
« on: August 13, 2004, 12:11:57 PM »
Hi everyone,

I love this song, "Rock of Ages" by the TM Mass Youth Choir, because I remember my sisters and I singing it as little girls in our youth gospel choir.  I want to teach it to my choirs now, and I have the sheet music but I can't find the CD or an mp3 or anything.  Do you know where the mp3 to this song is?

Thanks and have a GREAT day!

Sheetmusic....learning to play by ear

Hi musicboy,

Let me see if that's possible for me to do that - about the sheet music.  About beginning to play by ear, you're kind of like me.  I took piano lessons all my life (except I'm much older than you, 23 now), and when I was little I used to naturally pick up songs by ear until my mom noticed I was playing and she put me in piano lessons and they of course teach you not to play by ear.  It's a good thing and a bad thing, because you're taught to read very well, but then, your ear is still an infant.  I was planning on reading some of these posts on developing your ear, and my uncles who play very well both ways have given me some advice also.  Basically, it's going to take time and practice just like it took time and practice to learn to read.  But you are very young and have lots of time to develop your ear very well, and I think it's wonderful that you are being involved with your youth choir.

In any case, like I said, if it's possible I'll get that music to you.  In the meantime, don't neglect the power of developing your ear.  Once you have both talents, you can do anything with music.

I happened upon a copy of the cd in a small gospel record store in Atlanta (decatur) Ga.  I will be glad to get a address (or email address) that you can possibly have the owner to mail you a copy of the CD.  I am also working with a youth choir to learn that song too.  There are some really great selections on the cd to teach to your youth group.  I will post the info ASAP.

Mizz Von,

Please send me that e-mail address, I would greatly appreciate it!  Also, to musicboy34 and anybody else looking for sheet music, go to www.ntimemusic.com.  If it's not listed in their online catalog, call them, they usually have it or can get it.

Thanks again Mizz Von, I'll be waiting for that e-mail address!

Thanks!

Andrea

Dear DCW,

I got the sheet music from my sister, but I'm certain she got it from www.ntimemusic.com, check them out they've really got a good selection, and if you don't see it in their online catalog they probably have it, it's just not in their catalog yet.  Call their number for songs you don't see, they're very helpful.

Have a great day!
