Edwin Hawkins
« on: May 23, 2007, 10:51:20 AM »
I'm going to work up some old songs with my choir like Come and go with me to my fathers house, I heard the voice and Jesus lover of my soul.  It's been many years since I've sung these songs and need verification on the words to Jesus lover of my soul - the others I'm having no problem with.  I've searched and have had no luck with finding them - here's what I think they are - if I'm wrong please point this out right away - practice is Thursday night.

Jesus lover of my soul let me to thy bosom fly, while the nearer waters flow, while the tempest still is high (repeat)

My Savior high, Savior high, till the storm of life be past,  send me to thy heavens
sky? and receive my soul at last, and receive my soul at last.

Plentious grace with thee is found, grace to cover all my sin  Let the healing streams abound make and keep me pure within.

Hoping that someone can verify the words or correct them for me.  It tough when you get to rehersal and folks start saying "I thought it was this" or "We always said that".  Usually I can prove the words because I have a songbook with them in it, but not on something this old.

Thanks!

I've got that album!! You made me pull it out...though it's an old album, I still like listening to it. I think because nearly every song on there, my old church choir ministered then back when I was a little girl in the 80's (20 years after the recording), one reason why I had to have the album.

Sent you the lyrics (check your pm), you were pretty much correct though. :)
