Who is attending the Gospel Music Workshop of America Convention this August?

all the sissy's and how they were it was crazy and its not the person but just the whole like very bold attitude like ima let you know im out and im proud to be living a lifestyle outside of God in front of God.

LOL!!! Yes, they were there. This was my first GMWA convention and I was warned about that prior to leaving home. It was sad to see but we have to praise the Lord w/our music and try to bypass those distractions.

Trust me, someone is aware of it and has published book regarding that subject in the church music ministry that was on sell during the convention.

I attended the Electronic Instruments-Guitar and Audio Engineering Techniques academic classes and associated lab sessions at the Dolphin Resort. Both class were really good.

Do you plan to attend the 2008 convention in Nashville, TN? If so, make sure you enroll in that business class. For the cost, you can't beat any of the educational benefits. Just go for it and ignore the other eliment we both noticed.

With this being my first time attending, I saw what I saw but I did not let that distrack or offset my overall mission to learn more about praise and worship in church music ministry.

Is there another gospel music organization that is better than GMWA?

The 2008 GMWA convention will be in Nashville, TN at the Grand Old Opry Convention center area. All under one roof this time...

the other thing I didn't like about the event was the fact there was no mention or nothing for the youth night musicals at the dolphin

I've also heard it referred to as Gay Men With Attitude Convention.  The thing is that's not uncommon at ANY church related convention (GMWA, Holy Convocation, National Baptist etc) you just gotta remained focussed and pray.

Was James Cleveland a homosexual??

Many say yes, but I never knew or met him so I don't know. I've heard it personally from folks that met or knew him. I do know he was never married nor have I seen him in photos with a woman at his side, though he had a daughter named LaShone. He was close friends with a few men in the gospel community who act in effeminate manners. There was also a big mess after he died involving allegations against him messing around with young boys, and what he died from. I've heard causes being heart disease/congestive heart failure (because he was obese most of his life), cancer/respiratory ailments (because he was a smoker too), and most commonly, AIDS complications. It could have been any of them because he lost a lot of weight and his health deteriorated rapidly in the 2 or so years before his death. It's such a controversial topic and lots of people refuse to discuss it, so much so that Christianmusictoday.com reports one of the Clara Ward singers got into an argument with Bil Carpenter for mentioning that in his Gospel Music Encyclopedia entry on James Cleveland not too long ago.
