I played for two churches and it is easier if you have autonomy in choosing songs to teach the choir and praise team. You simply teach them the same thing. Then it's just a matter of setting your rehersal dates.
Be Blessed.
.......... it takes a lot of patience to handle choir members...HELLO SOMEBODY!!!...
ARE U JOKING ME... a lot of patience to handle choir members! That goes without saying. I'm sure all of us can attest to the fact that a choir is simply a smaller church. Sometimes I think Pasotr's don't give enough credit to good Ministers of Music who have to basically deal with the same sort of problems that they themselves also have to deal with.
1.) Choir members - mostly women - not liking each other. Nope. They just can't come and sit somewhere so they can learn the song. They have to make sure they don't sit next to certain people because of whatever... never even talked to the person to find out what they were like... they just don't like em.
2.) Choir member who consistantly come in late (IF THEY SHOW UP AT ALL) and then expect to be the first person choosen for a solo part.
3.) Choir member who don't show up for several rehersals in a row and then expect you to Re-teach the song or now.. burn them a CD of the song so they can learn it on their own time.
4.) We won't talk about the younger sisters and younger men who come to choir rehersal to see who they can hook up with. Also, forget about the folks who come to rehersal and then intend to go clubbin right after rehersal is done.
PATIENCE!!!!! hummm.. there's the understatement of the year...
LOL
