Sister Rosetta Tharpe
« on: November 10, 2007, 08:02:21 PM »

Brothers and Sisters, check out Sister Rosetta Tharpe. She is definately an under-appreciated genius, who was one of the biggest Gospel stars of her day. She also did some secular records. She was a bad, bad guitar player!
Listen to her, and you'll see where Spanky, and Jonathan DuBose, come from.

Enjoy, and check out other vids of hers. ;)

Oh yeah! I became a big fan of hers when she re-made one of her early songs, "Precious Memories" sometime during the 1970's. Her guitar playing is phenomenal and it's a shame that didn't get the recognition that she deserves.
"Praise the LORD with harp: Sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings".
