Are those the actual notes, "F A Ab D / F A C"  that you play?

Fadd6#9

Another nice voicing would leave the tritone in the left hand:

D-Ab/F-A-C

I'm at work right now, but I'm assuming you like the other voicing:

F-Ab-A-D/F-A-C

Because the Ab and A next to each other give you a nice tension.

It sounds like a type of m6/9 chord that resolves to possibly a C chord ... (just guessing  :))

That chord is nowhere near a 13th chord man.  It's closer to a 9th than a 13th.

Calling it a 13 chord implies that it's dominant.  Can't be dominant without the 7.

With no 7 it has to be an 'add6'

It's an F6 (#9). It's sound better as a straight F 6/9.

That's a nasty (bad) voicing though.

I'd probably use "D-Ab / C-F-A" or "Ab-D / F-A-C".

Either way, all of them sound better with a B or E bass.

That's just what my ears hear. It's definitely something you would rarely play.

As I said, I'd use it with a Bb (the previous post was supposed to read "Bb" not "B") or E in the bass. So it'd actually be a root-less "BbMaj9 #13" or "E7aug b9/b13". There are some nasty sounding chords that I've heard Joe Sample, Russel Ferrente, Jeff Lorber, Alex Bugnon, and Herbie Hancock do, I would guess this would fall into that category. Even some of the crazy chords that John Peters does on his new DVD would fall into this category.

I'm not very proficient at using these yet, but I can try to post something. I have a couple others that I use though. It was almost 3am when I answered this post, so I didn't post anything. I've found that when you play out of key, it can sound like you're doing some very dissonant (complex) stuff and you're not.

Here's a post I did around this time last year.

Did you mean FABbD/FAC? I use that in Bb, but that A sounds a mess to me! ;D
