Hey, I'm not a female musician, but I can tell you how I got started playing gospel style music. I just started listening to the hot CDs that's out and I started watching other experienced musicians. I didn't purchase any videos, but I did watch old church videos and when we had guest musicians at our church, I would study how they play. A normal practice session for me is just scales in every key w/both hands, playing the 4 basic types of chords (major, minor, diminished, augmented) and their inversions in every key w/both hands, then I just play whatever is in my head at the time. Sometimes I just turn on the radio and play behind the radio. I don't just listen to gospel music though, I listen to all different types of music as long as the beat is hot and there isn't too much bad language in it, I take pieces of songs and add it in my playing.
I live in Bartow, Florida and there are some female musicians down here that are off da chain. I be impressed by a female musician who can put it down just like a male musician, and sometimes they do it better. I think female musicians are just so sexy cuz they fingers glide over the keys and most of them can sing while they playing. I myself don't have no problem learning from females, yall keep doing yall thing.
