« on: February 11, 2008, 09:00:23 AM »
Hi everyone, I have a yamaha psr-540 and would like to upgrade to a newer lighter keyboard that i can carry back n forth 2 church. In church will b used to fill behind piano with mostly strings and some organ. Would like a nice piano also. My buget is about $500. I would like 76 key if possible. Thanks for you advice in advance.

The Casio is probably the best bet for 76 keys with both piano and organ in that price range. The good thing about the Casio organ is the leslie effects and the ability to change the drawbars. I will say the feel of the keys is not all that great. You may be better of saving you money and going with what you really want or get a Casio.
Vision without action is just day dreaming. I miss practicing.

My advice:

Layaway bruh.  It's better to put a nice board on layaway and get one you want than spend $500 on a board you're not happy with.

I've had the casio wk 3000 for over 3 years, it s a good board for organ sounds, but  you need weighted keys to practice on or else you will sound a mes on a real piano

That price range is pretty restricting but the Yamaha MM6 @ $599 may work.

Yamaha MM6

Welcome to the LGM family pandiej, God bless you!!!

This is the keyboard that I have and it is only 400.00. It has 76-keys and the sounds are excellent.

A lot of people say they regret buying the MM6. I'd rather spend a little more and get a used MO6, but thats just me.

I think korg has a board out for like $700

Roland has the juno d for $500

If it's not the Casio WK3800 which you can find @ Musiciansfriend.com , then maybe the Roalnd Juno D might be a plan..
But that's just me ;D

I frequent the Motifator website and I also see alot of people who regret getting the mm6.....

.....then I saw and heard those youtube vids.

Sounds pretty good.....not good enough to pick it over an MO6, but pretty good.

If he's looking for a NEW board, that MM6, Juno, or the Kurzweil KME are the best in the price range.

If he's looking for a used board, then I agree, getting a used MO6 is the best bet.

If you decide to buy the board from Guitar Center, Sam Ash etc. , Make sure you ask them too lower the price, And Also ask the church secretary or MOM for the church's tax exempt number so you wont have to pay sales tax.

That's great Travis..

I also use a Casio wk3800..
The organs are great for me.

I also like most of the synth sounds & the brass & wind instruments.

Like it's been said, the keys feel dodgy @ first, but you get used to them :P

The grand pianos are not the best (the others are ok), but used with the right speakers, the grands might surprise you..some tweaking may also be necessary for the grands.

U could also split & layer some good sounds together 4 the unique sound U want--not too shabby for $400..
I just want to invest in a good set of speakers so that I can go to my neighbor's & he can connect his electric guitar & we'll shake the hood ;D :D

Another thing I don't yet understand with the board is whether I can record a song with the rhythm ?/? :P ::)

O, my dad was beating the hell out of my bra last week while I was away studying in the library. The board was set up in my sista's bedroom, when I got home every1 came to tell me the board got bumped & flew quite a distance >:(
But upon inspection, i found it 2 be ok, no cracks& sounds ok..so it's not as soft as it looks ;D

For the love of God, please clarify this.

Ok, my bad...I should mind my language next time.
Upon enquiry, my mum tells me my brother had told her she shouldn't act foolishly (when she told my dad bout my brother's new vocation).

So my dad happened to hear that,& he asked him nicely what he had said. Now instead of my brother apologizing, he says he didn't say anything- that's when the beating began.
So there is some bad blood between the 2 at the moment.
