Looking for a new rig
« on: February 12, 2008, 03:18:16 PM »
Well people, I think it's time for me to find a new rig.

Currently I'm sporting a Kustom Groove 1200HD,Aguilar GS410, and peavy 1x15

The 1x15 will not be going anywhere as I leave that amp at the church for practice, but I'm thinking of clearing out the Kustom and the Aguilar GS410 for well....i  don't know yet.

What I have a hankering for right now are either.

GK 1001RB & Gk 410
Peavy Tour head and 410
Hartke Killo 1000 head and HyDrive 410
Keeping the Kustom head, selling the Aguilar and getting a Avatar 410

Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm not trying to spend more thant $700 after I sell my Aggie, so please keep that in mind.  And I don't do 12's...lol

I gotta tell you take a look at the GK1001 w/ the 2/12 neo cab. Out here inthe valley I am running a GK 700 w/ the 2/12 and when I travel I beef it up w/  the GK 1001 and a extra 1/12 on top. man it is smooth from the top all the way to the bottom.

Be Blessed

I have the GK 1001RB-II and it's the real deal for your hard earned money.  It's a fantastic head, even aside from the whole "bang for your buck" mindset.  I use it on my Avatar B410 NEO and I take the B210 NEO for out of town trips, and it's SOLID.

And I agree with M5P, don't count out Eden.  You can find some great deals on a used 410, just keep your eyes open... In fact, right here in Austin...

And on Talkbass...

But if all else fails, GK + Avatar = B-B-B-BOOM!!!!!

Better yet, pay the extra bit and get the Line-X coating.  Durable, lasting, and very clean looking.  That's what I got for both of my cabs.

You're right. My head was made in 95 and I don't know about the cab. It has the banana plugs so fairly old. Both sound and work like a charm. I get mad compliments on the rig.

Im going to go against the norm and mention Genz Benz.  Their gear CRUSHES!  I have the GBE 600 (plan on getting the 750) and NEOX 212 and this amp is so versatile.  You have SS and Tube, or you can mix the two.  The bass player in my army band is now a converted GB head after hearing mine.  I have yet to play and not get mad compliments on my sound.  I play alot of diff genres, but I swear this amp is a best kept secret in gospel.
Praise Him!

I've heard great things about Genz Benz... I wish I could find some of that gear locally to give it a test run.

i checked out that fusion 550. the memory feature where the knobs turn to your memorized settings is crazy!

no issues of the loss of wattage switching from the kustom?

i don't think the wattage thing will be an issue unless I hit an outdoor venu, but then again I doubt you will ever play in any church or outdoor gospel enviroment where you ne ed a full 1200 watts...LOLOL
