He has greater guitar skills of some in my top ten, but not a top ten favorite for me. Sorry.
No big thing, I think I was more surprised that I forgot about him. Setzer's one of those dudes that I will totally dig on for months, then he slips away into my CD collection for about a year lol.
Not sure why... maybe I can only handle so much rockabilly/swing...
Seriously, though, a lot of those rockabilly licks fit into old school gospel amazingly--I saw this one guy nailing stuff like that at this revival that was being held in a gym. He was crankin' out loud, raunchy (and naturally echo-y) rockabilly licks on a Tele through a Fender 4x10 (I'm guessing Deville ???). Right at that moment it "clicked," and I was like "hey, I need to work on that..."
Never did, though... lol. So, about a year and a half later, the Setzer pops out again...
