Drifter - Decemberadio
« on: February 27, 2008, 10:04:50 AM »
This isn't a "gospel" song, but it would be a great one if you have youth services, and works well acoustically.

If you've never heard it, go here: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=14481114&MyToken=b200cda4-ab39-451e-9d01-d26b7b93c530

These guys were a breath of fresh air to the Christian music scene (for me, at least).

Anyhow, I'm doing this at a solo acoustic gig Friday, and figured I'd post the chords for y'all.

It's really pretty simple, but it moves me, and I thought I'd share.

It's played in standard tuning, capo in the 4th fret. Actual key of B, you'll be playing in G, physically.

Little into lick:
/ and \ = slide; p=pull off

Intro: Am7 C

G           Am7
I used to have a home.
             C                               G                F
A place I started from. A place to call my own
                                            Am7
But bright lights and late nights, the devil took me on a midnight ride.
C
Left me out in the desert on my own.

Am7         D  Dsus2
Now I feel alone
            Am7                           D                      C
I need a hand to help me find my way back home.

        G                                       Am7
I'm a drifter out on a dead end road trying to find my way back home
    F             C       G              F
to get to you Oh to get to you
       G                                        Am7
Lord I've been gone for far too long, headed to places I don't belong
      F                  C                  G
and I've got to get back home to you.

(same as verse 1)
Sometimes I think about the past; the road that I was on, the one that lead me home
I'll walk on another day I may wander but I'll never stray,
cause I found out the hard way sin don't pay.

(same as chorus 1)
Now I feel alone, I need a hand to help me
find my way back home

I'm a drifter out on a dead end road, trying to find my way back home
to get to you Oh to get to you
Lord I've been gone for far too long, headed to places I don't belong
and I've got to get back home to you

Bridge
Em7           D                    C           G  D (the D's a quick passing chord...)
and when I feel the night is closing in
Em7          D                      C     G     D
and I can barely breathe the air
Em7      D                     C      G
I just remember that I've got a friend
       Am7
who really cares
           C               D
Oh who really cares
