Hello. How are you? I was wondering if you could teach me how to identify chords and the chord names. I am new to all of this. For exmaple: Eb m 7 . I don't know what that mean.

You can email me @ charity_77028@yahoo.com

Thanks in advance!!!! :D

The minor chord is the 1 the 3rd(flatted) and the 5th
The minor 7th chord is the 1 the 3rd(flatted) and the 5th and the 7th (flatted)

In Eb the major scale is
(#=SHARP, b=FLAT)
Eb=1
E=#1 or b2
F=2
F#=#2 or b3
G=3
Ab=4
A=#4 or b5
Bb=5
B=#5 or b6
C=6
C#=#6 or b7 (also called Dominant 7th)
D=7

also...when u see a m7 (minor 7th) that 7th is flatted (dominant)
so Ebm7 is...Eb F# Bb C#

when u see a M7 (major 7th) it's the 7th of the major scale (for example in Eb....D is the 7th of the major scale)
so EbM7 is...Eb G Bb D

How I figure out chord names, I used the major scale to figure out what notes are contained in that chord.

Hope that helps a lil!  :wink:
