From a pro on how to be a pro...
« on: March 19, 2008, 06:21:16 PM »
Time and time again we have a discussion turn into a flame war GM about the basic truth of the role of a drumset musician.e of us he Lately we have been visited here in the drum room by non-drummer asking why drummers today are not handling their business which is serving the music. I found an outside source to teach what some here have grown tired of preaching.

Well said by You and Mr. Valentine.  Maybe it will take Mr. Spears, Mr. McCurdy, or Mr. Rodgers saying this for it to really have an impact.  Sometimes it doesn't matter until someone they admire drives the point home.

Calvin basically said it in a post here before in saying that he is hired because he can read, arrange, takes care of his gear, arrives on time, can work with people etc. All these lessons go hand in hand IMO. But I agree with you. It I still don't recognize truth when we s unfortunatly that we meet it if it is not packaged the way we think it should be.

...the same thing that Russ Miller stated in his last M.D. article.

...Why doesn't anyone want to be the best "sideman" they can be anymore in a band setting?  When have you ever seen Chesther Thompson, Sonny Emory, Michael White and even Vinnie C. out do the Singer or Group that hired them to do the job????

Psalms 144.1 - "Praise be to the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle."
