How do you overcome any phasing issues with top and bottom miking of your snare? Post your methodology.
In that type of situation, mic placement is key. I try not to angle the mics in direct paths of each other. That helps a lot. And of course, you want to flip the phase on one of the mics (usually the bottom mic) from your mixer/daw. Make sure whatever mixer you get has the option to flip the phase.
Yamahaboy, I like the Audix Fusion 7 mic pack. I've been doing a recording session with these for the last few months and they sound great. They're not as heavy on the purse, but if you have the money, go with some of the other choices (that doesn't mean that the Audix's sound bad).
