After getting the absolutely ridiculous price quote from Yamaha on the Beech set, I may be looking into getting a Bubinga or B/B kit by Tama. Because of the Beech being a special order set now Yamaha is adding an extra 15% upcharge. I wanted to choke that guy when he told me the price I would pay at dealer cost. I can imagine what it would cost the regular customer for this drum set.

...you need to start calling the 5 Star Drum Shops....ie (Memphis Drum Shop, Forks Drum Closet, Columbus Percussion, Explorers Percussion or Drum Shop etc.)  All of the dealers are listed in M.D. Mag.

...drums2go Orlando Fl. doesn't have any Beech Yammy's so that's one less call. ;) ;D

So you guys would prefer the Birch/Bubinga versus the Bubinga starclassic???

NO in my case. They each are very nice sounding kits.

I however like to here the drum sing. The resonance on bubinga is not overbearing. The birch simply shortens the resonant frequency a bit and gives a slightly different tone to the lows.

Bubingas and Pearl Reference series have a very similar tonal length IMO. Bubinga is a African hardwood like African Mahagony just more dense (harder)... it has a deeper, punchier tone. More crisp articulation.

Even check the Guitar Center stores. Have them check all through their chain.

Forks Drum Closet in Nashville is another place to definitley check.

in comparing my snares, masters mahogany to warlord bubinga, sabe is exactly right. i would also say that bubinga doesn't have the ring that the mahogany does.

hey suga, funky and sabe gave sound advice on where to look for the yammies, but if it doesn't work out for you, your second thoughts are spot on.
