90% of the time, it's straight to the amp...

SHHHH... don't tell  ;)

I couldn't live without what's on my board, though... there's only a few... well... several... ok, 6.

As of now, it's going to be straight to the amp (except some wah-wah at times). I'm finding that my amp has some pretty decent distortion (Crate XT120 2X12). When my church was remodeling though, the construction crew trashed my 3-button footswitch that came with it! I really need to get another one... :'(

I really only use three or four sounds on my GNX-3.

Really, if you DON'T like your sound straight to the amp, a pedal's really not going to do much. That's your foundation.

Even if your a fuzzbox nut, if your amp can't give you a clean you like, then the fuzz will only get you part of the way there.

I really don't have any serious tone-changing pedals in my chain. I use my amps dist., then I have a booster for leads, a few modulation effects, wah, and an echo.

I like dirtboxes, and fuzzes, they just never seem to earn a spot on the board (well, my booster isn't 100% clean, but still...)

Note:I'm lazy, so I'm using "fuzz" as a general term for dirt/dist/od/fuzz. etc...

Well something must be wrong with my guitar!! the guitr I heard on this past Sunday (You'll tired of me talking about Sunday) was so NICE!! I could wait to see what kind of pedal he had. He did use one! straight into the house system that every one else uses. The guitar was not even a name brand!! I don't know why I though the better the brand the better the sound. I like the sound of my guitar, don't get me wrong. when we had to sing I use the same PA System and my guitar did not sound like his. I don't know ?/? mybe it's the better you play the better the sound

I try to follow GTRDAVE's "Rules of Tone" to the tee! The light hasn't come on yet to "The tone is in the fingers" part yet, but it's coming!

Yea, I think thats why I buy pedals, to sound better than I am, and now I'm about to go wireless.

and now I'm about to go wireless.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Sorry. Not a fan of wireless. Try it yourself, but I think you'll hear a degradation in your tone... unless you're plopping down a good chunk of cash on a wireless (like, a grand).

I don't care if I got big and famous, there will always be a solid, mechanical connection between me and my amp.

Maybe it's just me being stubborn, but I've just never liked it.

Oh, and you can argue about cable capacitance cutting your high end off, but you run just as much cable (ironically) with a wireless if you run a pedalboard. Think about it, you've got to run a cable from the receiver to your board, then back to your amp. I guess you could put your receiver on your board, but I bet that would jack your pedals up somewhat fierce.

Give it a shot, but keep your receipt.

after studying communication systems and what-not, there's too many variables that could happen in sending and receiving information via a transmitter or what ever they use.  I would think that there would be alil bit of tone alteration...

As much as we try to stay open about stuff here, that's one thing I'm super-biased about... I'm sorry, I just am.

Like I said, try it out, you may like it, but I had a (key word here lol) cheaper samson unit YEARS ago, and it was very hard to dial in--always had a bit of distortion. Then again, it was cheap.

I'd just rather have that physical connection like I said.

That's ok. Some guys are touchy-feely and some guys distance themselves from their equipment. It depends on how you first guitar raised you!!! ;D :( >:( :'(

Yeah, that came out weird, huh? lol

I meant mechanical connection (the cord).

Although... ain't nothin' wrong with hugging your guitar every once in a while.

AND, there ain't nothin' wrong with having to smack it back into line every once in a while... it knows what it did, and where its place is  ;)

One of the WORST things you can do for your guitar tone is to buy a cheap wireless system.
If you don't dig the tone much right now, it will only get worse with a cheap wireless.
Also, with the switch to digital TV on the horizon, any wireless device operating within the UHF frequencies will be all but useless and illegal and there are probably some cheap wireless units that still fall into this category so buyer beware.

Please, for the love of all things holy, put you money into good cables instead of a cheap wireless.
