The song I am looking for is a rock and roll gospel song from the 50's. I heard Huxie Scott sing it. I goes "I used to smoke, I used to drink, I used to smoke drink and do the hoocheecoo."

I know you are not asking me, But probably in church. The words are no different than waht a preacher would speak in their sermon. :P

I was about to ask. . .is this a SONG or the common testimony that we hear at every testimony service across the globe!?

In the 50's!?  I'd like to hear it.  Church folks seem to identify with what they can easily relate to. . .this would be a hit at GPHMBC!

Yes. I was going to sing it in church. The first verse I know:

I used to smoke.
I used to drink.
I used to smoke, drink, and do the hoocheecoo.
I used to smoke and drink. Smoke and drink and do the hoocheecoo.
but now I'm standing on this corner just trying to talk to you.
because I'm saved. I'm saved. Saved. I am saved!!!!!
and I'm standing on this corner. Just trying to talk to you.

The second verse starts with:
I used to lie
I used to cheat.
I used to lie, cheat, and play cards everynight.

After that I am at a loss.

It is a standard 12 bar blues progression played fairly fast.

I know this post is 7 years old but I just joined today and know the answer because I am trying to find chords for this song myself.

The song is called Saved and was made most popular by Elvis Presley singing it during his '68 Comback Special. If you go to Youtube.com and type in Elvis Presley Saved, a few videos will come up.
