2nd Bass! I'm back!
« on: July 31, 2008, 11:01:57 PM »
Hello fellow LFM!

Well here I am again, I've been learning so much from LFM: Thanks a lot!  I don't reply much or say much, however I do read a lot of what you all have to say!  I'd have to say 90% of my bass learning has come from the LGM community, so thanks for that!  Well here's the question.  I think I'm ready for my 2nd bass.  (but i have NO clue what to look for)  we play a lot of shout as well as contemporary.  I've been looking at the sr505, but I'm not sure if i want to go with another Ibanez.  I'm really not looking to spend over 800, but of course the cheaper the better!  =)  I'm looking for this bass to last me for awhile.  I know this probably isn't important, but its almost a MUST, I love the dull wood look. lol.  So of course, this next bass has to be some type of dull look style. =P  Well guys thanks a lot in advance for advice and tips.  I'll try to get a video up sometime to show you what ya'll have taught me!  =P  Thanks!

Alfonso

I would say MTD kingston series, you can pick up a decent one for under $800. They play well and have the Buzz Feiten tuning system. For a Korean production guitar they play very nicely and have a rich sound. But then again I am biased toward MTD  ;D

Hi GolfCart. LGM has helped me develop alot as a bassist too.

But there seems to be a problem here..

It appears that, you have called LGM, LFM twice.....now you should know that MrEdabass doesn't tolerate spelling mistakes of such a degree. Now I'm going to have to bring justice to this situation. I'm sorry but this is for your own good.

haha

I apologize for my mistake.  I'm not sure how LFM got it there, the only thing I can think of (I used to play A LOT of world of warcraft, dunno if any of you are familiar with it, but LFM = "looking for more").  I really can't think of any other place it came from. lol.

Anyways, I was in Guitar Center yesterday and played the sr505, I love the way that bass feels.  My piano player insists that I get a Kingston, but I'm not sure I want to go that far right now.  After some thought, if I buy the sr505, I can afford other little goodies.  Anyways, I'm still thinking all this over.  Thanks much all you LFM people!!! oops I mean LGM!  =P

After some thought, research, and playing of many basses my decision was, of course, placed on the SR505.  It was right in my budget and feels awesome!  So far, I have NO complains.  I picked it up on Saturday, and have been playing hours a day trying to get used to the 5 string.  It's my first 5 String so it's a little awkward, but soon enough I'l have it!
Cheers!  :)

Nice :) I can't seem to get around the feel of and Ibanez SR for some reason but I glide on the BTB which is less glideable than the SR, which makes no sense, the only explanation, MrEdabass's special stuff lol.

Yeah, that I've learned this weekend.  Picking a bass is almost like trying on a shoe; don't really know how comfortable a Bass can be until you pick up the right one.
