Ok, I'll share my story... I was about 217 june of 2007. I started working out 5 times a week for a whole year. I got down to 181lbs. People thought I was smokin something or whatever because I was always a big person (not really fat) as far as my height.
All I did was hit the gym hard. I did weightlifting for tone, cardio for the fat burning, and the sauna for detoxing.
Eat well and alot of spinach salads and you'll lose the weight.
I had to stop doing cardio because I was getting way too small for my height. Now I'm at 200lbs and nice, especially for my age... Keep working man, don't give up. And eat good and often
