thanks for the encouragement and advice. I just picked up a chord book from my local guitar center. However, there are two thngs that I have noticed about the guitar
1. The open strings move in fourths except for the 4th(G)to 5th string(B)
2. Some of the chords require 1 finger to press several frets at a time. Some even require you to press frets with one finger that are not in the same proximity of one another. (ex. Cdim7; I think?)
1. You've got your sting numbers backwards, but that is correct. 1st string is the high E, 6th string is the low E. So, the G is your 3rd string, and B is your 2nd.
I know this will vary depending to who you talk to, but that is the was it is supposed to be.
2. referred to as "barring" or a "barre." What you will notice with these, though, is that they are movable. Once you memorize the shape, and which note is the root, you can use them all over the neck.
Those will come with time and finger strength.
