MOM ad
« on: November 12, 2008, 08:01:19 AM »
Just thought I'd share an ad I found that shows what churches are typically looking for in a MOM.

Specific Responsibilities: (Music related)
• Provide opportunity for gifted musicians and artists to utilize their giftedness from a ministry platform
• Provide teaching for the church that challenges them in the area of personal as well as corporate worship so that they will be consistently encouraged to intentionally meet God
• Shepherd and disciple Worship Ministry members
• Prepare music for Sunday morning, Tuesday evening, and special events
• Conduct and rehearse vocal groups and instrumentalists
• Write arrangements for services, vocalists and instrumentalists
• Select music and orchestrations for vocalists and instrumentalists
• Audition singers and instrumentalists

Specific Responsibilities: (Non-music related)
• Help plan a yearly calendar and budget for the Worship Ministry and monitor expenditures, setting goals for growth
• Organize maintenance and repair of all music and sound equipment
• Arrange and coordinate use of music, sound, lighting personnel and equipment for services and special events
• Order new equipment
• Provide ministry data and reports as requested

Education
• Bachelor’s degree in music and/or Church Ministries preferred

Minister of Music is more responsibility...almost like being a Pastor to the Choir and musicians.

This is a good ad - not like the mess that got posted in the Drum Room.

Hope they pay well...

I think the above criteria sounds more difficult than what it really is. Personally, I dont like the admin side of things but it comes with the territory.  The key is to get a really good staff.

In some cases experience will superceede the degree.  This does sound like a lot of reponsibilities but that does come along with being a Minister of Music.  I am sure the salary would be equal those responsibilities.

Believe it or not, if one is doing this full-time, then it's really not that difficult, actually.

Well, not to me, anyway.  :-\

I would have to agree with sjonathon...this position is really not that difficult. It just requires a good staff as someone else mentioned and being well "organized". On a spiritual note...this also requires dedicated prayer & fasting life and a one on one close relationship with the pastor...Get those and you're good to go  ;)
Prayer is the key ;-)

i must agree....it looks like alot when in black and white....but the day to day operations of a Minister of Music are quite easy with a good staff as ladikeys says. I do agree that it requires a lot of prayer and fasting (well at least for me lol) and a very good relationship with the Pastor. I found that this is what makes it so easy and rewarding for me to do my job.
