Food for thought, Did you know?
« on: August 05, 2003, 12:50:18 PM »
One day while bible studying musicians in the bible, I ran across some intersesting information.  Did anyone know that musicians in the bible were ranked just below the priest or messengers of God's word?  They were so highly regarded that they were exempt from all other duties, except playing music.  Here is the link and the searched site.

http://bible.gospelcom.net/cgi-bin/bible?search=music&SearchType=AND&version=NIV&restrict=&StartRestrict=&EndRestrict=&rpp=25&language=english&searchpage=0

1 Chronicles 9:33
Those who were musicians, heads of Levite families, stayed in the rooms of the temple and were exempt from other duties because they were responsible for the work day and night.
(Whole Chapter: 1 Chronicles 9 In context: 1 Chronicles 9:32-34)

Music is metioned over 800 times in the Bible? Levits, all they did was music..God holds music in VERY high regard..SATAN was the 1st MOM, the only being that had 4 part harmony ever, when he sang, lights flowed all around him, and was a BEAUTIFUL angel, which he became aware of and was the start of his downfall, which is why musicians go threw a lot of DRAMA, look at (King) David

Point well taken.  I didn't write this for anyone to want to exhalt themselves in pride though..if it appeared that way then my apology.  I simply posted it because many musicians don't realize the importance of ministering music.  Notice I said "ministering, not "just playing".  We have a huge responsibilty on our shoulders because where there is "HONOR", there lies much work to be done.  I hope this is not confusing and someone can see where I am coming from   .

See, I believe that if a musician is to be honored they must first perfect their ministry. And , must honor themselves with what they do, how they dress, how they talk, and how they live. Being a young musican is hard because of the temptation of the girls and stuff. I believe a lot of young cats like myself have started playing because of that.

I started playing for the church at 17...and id wasn't for the girls...it was the "lack thereof" LOLOL!!!!! It wasn't until I left town and much older they started to flock around....but I paid them no mind, that's something God have to help you with, you must play for HIS glory and not her low - cut, above the knee skirt

I am 19 and I started playing when i was 17 and I agree with what has been said we must always remember that we have a job to do and that job is to help lift burdens and to break the strong hold that many people come to church carrying and we are also surpose to help the people get ready to recieve the word which in turn makes it easier on the Minister coming forth. But being the musican comes with a big task and we cant be in it for ourselves we have to be in it for God and him alone.
