I heard this song for the 1st time on our local gospel station. I like the way the bass player grooves this song.  I found it on itunes for those of you who want to purchase it.  I'm 95% sure he is playing a Ken Smith.  If you listen to it then you'll see why I say that.  Just chech the song out.  I love it.

I'm learning!  I must say though I learned the hard way.  I lost a gig because the guy said I was playing to busy and to many licks.  I was confused because when my friend plays, he's like the best and busiest bass player I KNOW, he's all into him and stuff.  What I come to realize in my 5yrs of playing is pocket gets you gigs and playing all busy and doing licks and solos in the middle of songs gets you a little cheering section.  Those of you who've been to a gospel musical know what I'm talking about.  The section where all the musicians hang out and cheer each other on when they do something.

Very nice and very tasteful. I believe when you lay back you add more to the song in my opinion. Being busy is fun and entertaining but people often get caught up in that and not the song which in gospel music is supposed to minister to people...Keep up the good work...

This is why I stress playing in the pocket. Unfortunately, you learned the hard way, but I see that you learned from your mistakes. I commend you for that.

main reason why i dont go to sheds. i wanna learn not compete.

and i've seen some guys who can really play get caught up with the hype and throw in some distasteful stuff in so they can keep up the "oohs and ahhhs" when it really doesnt fit the song at all.
