Vanbasco player but for MP3??
« on: December 20, 2004, 09:41:30 AM »
Does anyone know if there is a player like the vanbasco midi player that does MP3s. I have alot of songs that I like in mp3 format and I like the features the vanbasco player has like the tempo control and the keyboard. I've found it very useful in trying to learn songs but it means I have to the song already in Midi format which is not always easy   :(

I don't think this could be done. Intelliscore boasted of being able to format mp3's to midi so that you can look at the notes being played on programs such as VanBasco, but it really doesn't work.

So sad. MP3s are so much easier to come across than Midis.

gtsjames,

I haven't tried this yet, but I plan to soon...
And so, there are tons of trialware applications, downloadable on the internet, that boast converting mp3's to midi...  how well they work, I don't know, but they are probably worth a try.  I would think that some of the up to date versions of the more advanced studio tools would have this capability also, if your'e blessed to have one of them.

I have tried intelliscore and alot of the other MP3-Midi conversion apps out there and most didnt work and the few that did work didnt work well at all. They seem only to be able to handle single track MP3s (Whos go those anymore  :) ) The ones that did convert seem to get all confused when you try to convert a track that has lets say more than one instrument this is assuming 1 instrument recording per track. I've been able to find studio stuff that may work, but alas I have no midi controller for my computer to record as a midi   . If you run across anything that works let me know.

How does all this work...I'm confused.... Can you play a song.... save it to Vanbasco... and we can see what notes and chords you played... For Example...lets say you have a song like We Must Praise by J.Moss... you play it and save it to Vanbasco... leaving it so everyone can learn the chords and notes you played...or Vanbasco only use songs that they put on it... PLEASE HELP... That would be nice if you can save it and everyone can see the chords and notes and hear it...it would just take the whole  gospel music learning experience to a whole new level...yaw be blessed

So much of that can already be done with the MIDIs already, even without the MP3's.  There's thousands of the MIDIs out there already - see Sister T.'s site, or godsgospel.com has a huge number, including at least 200 of Sam Tolbert's MIDIs - which are really amazing!  Check out the "Halleluia (jazz style)" - it's the Quincy Jones version from the "Soulful Celebration" album.
Plus, from other sites you can find some great versions of Stevie Wonder's songs, and Earth, Wind and Fire.
A good serch engine for those MIDIs is the vanbasco site, the same site where you download the free MIDI player ("karaoke player")
