For Those Who Want To Sequence on Computer...
« on: December 21, 2004, 11:21:37 AM »
Here is my mininum requirements for doing recording on the computer..from my experiences..

533 MHz Processor
128 MB RAM
100MB free hard disk space
MIDI interface and/or Windows-compatible sound card (I use M-Audio MIDISPORT 1 X 1)
1024 X 768, 16-bit color

Recommended requirements
Windows 2000, Windows XP
1.2 GHz processor or higher
512 MB RAM
100MB free hard disk space
1280 X 960, 24-bit color or higher (u can still use 1024 X 768)
MIDI interface and/or Windows-compatible sound card (I use M-Audio MIDISPORT 1 X 1)

I use Propellerhead Reason & Cakewalk SONAR 4 Producer's Edition and they take up CPU power!!! And between these 2 programs I think these are the most reasonable requirements for ya!  :D

What are some of the advantages of the prgrams you use??  If you had to chose one, what would it be and why???

Well I use Reason mainly for the drum loops and the synth patches and SONAR 4 is like my workhorse of the 2 cause it's a sequencer so everything that I do it goes to Sonar for mixing....even Reason (that's called Rewire...which allows me to take one program as a slave (Reason) to another program as a master (Sonar))....If I have to chose one...probably Sonar cause they both are the some features but Reason doesn't support vocal recording...Sonar does but that's probably on only reason on why I would have Sonar and that program can be incorporated with several other programs...If I had Pro Tools then that's a different story but for what I am doing, I an satified with what I have now.

Hey DDW4E,

I use Sonar 4 also.  I also have Reason but I don't use it, I prefer Sonar.  I use it on a computer (XPC Shuttle Case).  Running AMD XP 2800 chip,  256 mb of memory,  128mb Video card, and Terretec Phase 28 sound card.  I also have the Roland XP10 keyboard and the XV-5050 sound module, and TascamTM-D1000 Mixer.  I love my tools.  This is how I make my music for the Lord.  Go to the Shuttle web site to check the case out.  It's a little wonder!!!!

God Bless.

i use acid for my beat creation and looping then record all my live instruments into sonar 4. I am the worship leader/youth pastor/assistant pastor of a small church that just formed in august of last year, so I do all of ym music like that and play keys nad sing with it live, along with a 5 person praise team that helps me out.

I use Sonar 3 and Cubase VST for Hammond B3 simulation. I first create all my midi tracks in Sonar then import them into Cubase VST. I like the traditional sound I get from basic piano, bass, light drums and B3 with leslie effect.
